The second, MedGemma 27B, focuses solely on text — but does so with depth. With 27 billion parameters, it demonstrates advanced clinical reasoning, already performing competitively on the MedQA (USMLE) exam compared to GPT-4o.
Crucially, all of this isn’t just theoretical. Hugging Face and Google Cloud Vertex AI have opened the gates: the models are available for use, customization, and integration.

MedGemma isn’t a narrowly specialized kit. It’s a flexible engine already being applied in a variety of medical scenarios:
