Elevating original reporting

Journalists believed that the secret to turning publication into journalism and information into news was the addition of context, news judgment, and expertise.

The combination of all these components created what is called in journalism an original report.

What does original reporting mean?

Original reporting is telling what is really going on from the person who is there. That’s what I’ve learned after working in the field for a long time. Any reporter who wants to get original facts and details for the news must go straight to the source.

In my home opinion, original reporting is your path to success. What you write is what you’ll get.

While we typically show the latest and most comprehensive version of a story in news results, we’ve made changes to our products globally to highlight articles that we identify as significant original reporting. Such articles may stay in a highly visible position longer. This prominence allows users to view the original reporting while also looking at more recent articles alongside it.

Google released a helpful content update on August 25, 2022. This update focuses a lot on the quality of content and could affect a lot of news sites.

If you use at least one of these three techniques on your site, your site will most likely rank poorly and its traffic will decrease.

  • Are you producing lots of content on different topics in hopes that some of it might perform well in search results?
  • Are you using extensive automation to produce content on many topics?
  • Are you mainly summarizing what others have to say without adding much value?

Digital news is mostly written on different topics. Therefore, in order not to get a kick from Google, you should publish your own original reports that contain significant added informational value for the user.

Google is trying its best to clean up the Internet of disinformation, black journalism, so I advise you to focus on the “Old School” of news creation.

Many publishers who are actively using AI to create news are worried. Does this mean that you can no longer use artificial intelligence to create content? The answer is no. For example, the images in this article were created using Dreamstudio AI.

You can continue to actively use GPT-3 and similar proprietary developments. The main thing is that your content is useful, original, and relevant.

Google traditionally considers automatically generated content to be useless and of poor quality. So prove to the search engine that it is wrong.
